Progressions in modern communication technology have revolutionised the way we communicate with others. Some people think they benefited a lot from this advancement while others claim they did not. Personally, I think both views are reasonable and we should know how to make the best use of the new technological communication devices.　

Modern technology enables us to realize instant communication, which greatly enhances the efficiency and reduces the cost of getting informed. The ease and immediacy of email, telephone and other social appliances make them very attractive to the public, especially for the busy ones. For example, an email can be sent simultaneously to multiple recipients, while the traditional mail requires several days to be reached. Besides, with the use of teleconferencing, the cost of running a big company are saved considerably, and geographic distance is no longer a major hurdle. Furthermore, we can also easily build and maintain relationship with people afar on social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter or Wechat by updating the news instead of waiting for the mails.　

Yet modern communication technologies can bring negative outcomes in some ways. For example, the reliance on the social media gradually weakens people’s ability of daily communication; Email spamming can be so annoying and disturbing that we may miss the important ones; Some people who lack self-discipline may indulge themselves for hours in browsing the social websites. Moreover, since people lack face-to-face communication on the Internet, the rate of online fraud has been increasing rapidly, which results in the financial loss.　

From what has been discussed above, I think that as long as we beware of the potential risks of modern communications and limit the exposure to it in reasonable time, we can minimize their drawback and utilise them to serve the needs of us.
