08-31 观点类 – 社会话题
Nowadays, some people claim that public museums and art galleries will not be needed because people can see historical objects and works of art by using a computer. To what extentdo you agree or disagree?
people can see historical objects and works of art by using a computer:这是要取消博物馆这一观点的依据,网上可以看艺术品,就不需要博物馆的——即博物馆的唯一功能就是展览藏品;
提纲梳理如下:
例文:
While there is aprevailing assertion that museums and galleries have no justification in the world where historical and art works can be displayed online, I tend to say that it is too simplistic an opinion to label the role of these institutions as a window for display.
Superficially, it might seem sensible that these traditional facilities are reckoned to have no reason to exist in this world dominated by computers. From the perspective of the advocates of this, the only reason for people to visit museums and galleries is to see their collections. In this sense, it makes little difference whether to browse the same items on the screen or in the exhibition hall; particularly given the availability of the AR(artificial reality) technology, which narrows the gap between virtual replicas and real-world experience.
Plausible though the argument seems, what is neglected by those who clamor for the obsoleteness of these infrastructures is that the major function of museums and galleries is far from display. Instead, it is only one of the multiple characteristics of culture andart centers today - modern museums and galleries have evolved from simple exhibition space to multi-purpose complex that incorporate various roles, whether these be stages for avant-garde performances, a place for socializing for people sharing common interests, even the building itself is a work of art with both architectural and historical value. One convincing example is MOMA (The MuseumOf Modern Art), whose role is not confined to a space to exhibit works of art,but more a venue for numerous performances from improvisation music to experiment aldrama. How can we translate the exquisite effects of instruments and light which are exclusive to live atmosphere through a computer screen and speakers?
In conclusion, I would say it is simple-minded to equate museums or galleries with a show room, andtherefore claim to replace them with computer and the Internet.
