8月第一场雅思考试结束,大家表现如何呢~我们先来看一下这一次的写作范文解析~

08-01  双边类 – 教育话题

Some people think it is important for all children to learn history at school. Others believe that other subjects are more relevant to children’s development today. Discuss both views and give your opinion?

题目大意:

有人认为所有孩子都应该学历史。其他人认为其他课程对当今的孩子成长更有帮助。讨论双边并给出你的观点。

思路:

  • 双边讨论类的题目,可以自由讨论双方各自的利弊。这两个观点中,都有表述不合理的地方;
  • 甲方:所有孩子都应该学历史,观点中的“所有”,是一种武断表达,缺乏具体的限制条件,站不住脚;
  • 乙方:其他课程对当今的孩子成长更有帮助,观点中“更有帮助”,缺乏具体的限制条件,站不住脚;
  • 我的观点就是双方的观点都不,每一种观点应该在特定的条件才适用;

关键词

  • all children: 武断式表达,应该有具体的条件限定,才能成立,可以用以指出甲方观点的不足;
  • more relevant to children’s development today:模糊的表达,more relevant也应该有具体的条件限定,才能成立

范文

It has long been an assertion that history should be a compulsory subject, whereas many schools nowadays give priority to the more practical courses like computer and bio-engineering. It looks to me that none of which should be crowned as the golden rule that works with all students regardless of other considerations, and both views have their justification in terms of various conditions.

On the one hand, I reckon it irrational to take it for granted that all students should learn history. Some might argue the history plays as the guide for the younger generation to learn what has been justified as right and therefore to gain insight into their future careers. Nevertheless, that does not mean it works with all youngsters: not everyone has the aptitude for remembering hundreds of historical events as well as their influences, neither do the schedules of all classes allow for extra time for a course that might distract students’ focus on their core subjects.

On the other hand, it does not make sense to me either that other subjects necessarily eclipse history in this world dominated by technology. To the utilitarians, the modern school is nothing more than an incubator of skilled workers, whether these be computer programmers, IT engineers or webpage designers, who are more likely to receive offers from a red-hot company. Unfortunately, what is ignored by those pragmatists is a common feature in many business or political titans in the human history – they all have a mind open to all kinds of knowledge, rather than limited to their own professions; in many cases it is the study of history that direct them the future of a company or an empire.

In conclusion, I am convinced that neither of the two opinions is justified enough to illustrate the entire picture. It is too simply-minded to oblige every student to learn history; so is the opponents who prioritize the scientific course, which is also based on shallow definition of children’s development. Both arguments deserve their justifications and can be taken as a reference in particular context.
